Michael Podolny has specialized in the issues affecting private business owners for over 30 years.
Mr. Podolny began his career as a commercial lender serving middle-sized businesses and initiating over $150 million in financing. While at First National Bank of Maryland he created FirstList, a publication that connected acquisition, financing and equity capital seekers and sources. FirstList is still a mainstay of the middle market merger/acquisition industry having become an on-line service affiliated with the Association for Corporate Growth.
Mr. Podolny was a major contributor to the highly acclaimed reference books How To Do A Leverage Buyout, The Directory of Financing Sources and The Directory of Intermediaries. He was also a principal contributor to The Journal of Buyouts and Acquisitions and a speaker in the national seminar series, How To Do A Leveraged Buyout.
As a founding shareholder in Sirrah Corporation (founded in 1981) and eventual managing director of the firm, Mr. Podolny worked with hundreds of business owners representing them in the search for business combination partners, recapitalizations and debt and equity financing. Mr. Podolny initiated and closed transactions with an aggregate value exceeding $200 million while at Sirrah Corporation.
Recognizing that investment banking transactions only could resolve a small portion of business ownership issues, Mr. Podolny developed a proprietary method to assist business owners with reconciling personal and business issues quickly and efficiently. Moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico he founded the Podolny Group in 1993. The Podolny Group is dedicated to assisting clients achieve tangible results to difficult transition situations. Mr. Podolny is also the author of Make Your Business Serve You: The Business Owners Guide to Personal Wealth, Self-Satisfaction and Peace of Mind and publishes the Michael Podolny Newsletter.
